EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES YEAR 1 AWARD
Approved WSCC Promise Scholars can qualify* for an Educational Expense Award in their first year by completing:

• WSCC's online orientation and

• an in-person summer orientation event on WSCC's campus before August 1, prior to your first fall semester​

• Registration for 12 or more fall credits & FAFSA Completion by August 1, for fall semester; Maintaining full-time status is required to keep the full award.

WSCC in-person orientation sessions will be offered for new students in July, and sign-up in advance is required. Once students complete online orientation, signup for in-person orientation "Ramp It Up" is a separate, optional process, for which information will be sent later.

Educational Expenses Awards will be distributed once per academic year.  Promise Scholars who attend WSCC for a second year (fall/winter) will have the option to qualify for a second award.  Award amounts may vary by year. Be sure to enroll in First Year Seminar when signing up for fall classes so that you have the option to qualify for the returning year award.  Guest students do not qualify.
 

*Alternative Qualification Information:

--Option: Students who complete online orientation but are unable to attend an in-person summer info session can complete the "alternative qualification form" for their year 1 award. Please note: most students will need to attend "Ramp It Up."  You can find the form by clicking HERE.*

--Option: ASM Tech graduates have the in-person orientation requirement waived through completing "Core Time;" no alternative qualification form is required. They must still remaining requriements to qualify.

For the incoming class in fall, the award will be available to use in mid-August at the WSCC online bookstore.  After the drop period, any unused Educational Award funds will be distributed with WSCC's financial aid refund checks to students to cover any remaining fall or winter educational expenses.  Awards will only be distrubted.   Students who withdraw from all classes will forfeit their award/any remaining award. 

EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES: YEAR 2 AWARD

Approved returning Promise Scholars can qualify** for an Educational Expenses Award in their second year by completing:

• First Year Seminar Course with a C or better 

• Register for fall classes (12 or more credits required to qualify for year 2 ESA)

• and complete the Promise Renewal process (renewal approval and FAFSA completion) before August 1, prior to your second fall semester.

Awards will be distributed once only for returning students during their second academic year after high school graduation.  Guest students do not qualify.

**Alternative Qualification Information:

--Option: Students who did not take FYS but who took an equivalent course at another college can complete the "alternative qualification form" for their year 2 award.  All other requirements must be met as described above.  You can find the form by clicking HERE. 

--Option: ASM Tech graduates qualify for this by completing "Core Time;" no alternative qualification form is required.  All other requirements must be met as described above.
For returning scholars approved to use the Promise for fall of their second year at WSCC, the Educational Expenses Award will be available to use in mid-August at the WSCC online bookstore or for other educational expenses.  (Note that after the drop period, unused Educational Expenses Award funds remaining in a student's account will be distributed through WSCC's financial aid refund check process to students, and can be used cover any remaining educational expenses for fall or winter semester).
